The Fairy Tale Town of Strasbourg
My little sister had moved to the beautiful city of Strasbourg for her Erasmus year and with it only being a small journey away from Paris, I was on the first train over.
A gingerbread - like town, the perfect size that one can walk about everywhere. The bike seems to be the most popular choice of transport, and there is a canal going through the city making it feel a bit like Amsterdam. The quaint houses are all so colourful with pinks, blues and oranges, all to brighten up your day. It was a lovely break away. We climbed to the top of the Notre Damn Cathedral and were rewarded with a brilliant view of the city.
Being so close to Germany, the influence can be seen in the architecture and narrow streets. Most of the locals speak German, French and English so it is a great little city to visit for tourists. The main attraction is 'Petite France'. A beautiful area that really makes the 'Hansel and Gretel' feel come alive with little streets overlooking the river and candy-house like window frames. The Christmas markets must be a treat.
Every little lane way is worth wandering down and it gives the feeling of going back in time. Here are some photos to show the fairy tale town!
Enjoy!
