The Life of the Eccentric

A store where anything of the un-ordinary can be found. When I worked in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, this was one spot I could not resist. Hilariously named, 'Hier, Aujourd'hui, Demain', the title goes with the general feel of the place. It sells everything and anything, and made even better by the two eccentric gentlemen who run the store. A scruffy looking dog who has long missed his hair day snoozes outside. It is one of those old fashioned hardware stores that have survived long enough to become a trendy joint. Their selection to choose from is so absurd that it gives the little shop such a flair. It is on Rue de Bretagne up from the Marais.

This is the shop front of an Italian called Big Momma on Rue Debelleyne, just around the corner from the place above. I have yet to try this restaurant out but judging from their presentation to detail, I can only bet its good.

The window displays in this area are very creative and the people dress in a very high fashioned way.

Go further up the street, and this gallery is definitely one that will stop you in your tracks. Galerie Chardon is a place too tempting not to have a peep inside. Filled with insects of various species, exotic birds, peacocks, tigers, the list goes on. The most spectacular are the colourful butterflies.

Definitely the life of the eccentric.

Enjoy!
