The Christian Dior Exposition

For anyone visiting Paris within now and January 7th of the new year should pay a visit to the Christian Dior exposition at the Musee des Arts et Decorative. I went on a guided tour and would highly recommend doing so.

As a little girl growing up, I would spend hours of my time sketching dresses just like the ones from the Dior Exposition. I would collect fabric and recreate the design on my barbie dolls. For me, this exposition was like my childhood visions come to life. The attention to detail of a simple drape and fold of fabric transformed into a beautiful creation. I was in complete awe and full of inspiration.

The exposition started with a selection of Dior's sketches and family history. This was followed by a collection of the miniature version of the gowns, which were surrounded by jewels. I recognised a lot of the dresses from photographs and the celebrities who had worn them.

Another room introduced the cultural influence of the collections. Here is where it became more colourful and the little bit more eccentric. One room was filled from top to bottom with glass panes of white dresses which made quite the overwhelming entrance. The final hall was the cherry on the top. Glittering blocks showcased dresses. Others were displayed in glass globes.

This exposition was one of the highlights of my year. A must do!

I treated myself to a book on Christian Dior's life, which has not left my side.

Below are a selection of my photographs taken.

Enjoy!
