The French Sunday
Sundays are my favorite day of the week and for the French, are considered to be sacred. And so they should be. The parks are packed, the quai of the Seine filled with picnics and bicycles, and the markets are bursting with an atmosphere that is hard to beat.
I live in the 5th district of Paris and am lucky enough to have Rue Mouffetard on my doorstep. This is a long narrow market street specializing in cheese, wines, fish, baskets, the list goes on. I love to stroll down this street and open my senses to the smells and the buzzing atmosphere. This market is open every day of the week so we don't have to wait until the weekend to have our pickings.
This week was Fete de la Musique which is a one day festival on the 21st of June with music acts and various entertainment on the streets. The atmosphere was electric and the sun at a hot 35 degrees. Every year it seems to get better and this year was no exception.
Here are some photos of Paris to show how I see it. I never grow tired of walking around this city. There are always new discoveries around every corner.
Enjoy!
