Normandy
I went on a weekend away to Normandy and it was such a magical place. To me, it was like a land of gingerbread-like houses with lots of color. Being a country girl by heart, having moved from the seaside shores of Ireland to the buzzing life of Paris, the lure to the sea is a strong one with me. So given the chance to get away for a few days was perfect. I brought my bike and took off and I was so taken aback with the beauty of this place. I arrived to Deauville and cycled along the beach prom to the apartment which was overlooking the sea
The highlight of the trip was the 'haunted dollhouse' on the hill. It had by far the most commanding presence of anything I saw on the trip. It overlooked the beach and brought to mind nothing so much as a scene from a horror movie. As a child, I had a love for dolls, and this house reminded me so much of those old fashioned dollhouses that you could open up to discover their hidden treasures. Tucked in between two other houses, it appeared entirely out of place with the towering floors and the fact that it was entirely abandoned. Since my encounter, intriguing stories run through my mind of what lies within and what will become of it.
I spent three wonderful days and even had a dip in the ocean on the last day. Being used to swimming in the ice cold ocean in Ireland, this was a refreshing awakening. When the weather gets too hot in the city, as it does in the summer, I always have an urge for a swim but the Seine does not offer itself as a desirable choice, I will wait patiently for my return home.
I will definitely be returning to Normandy soon.
Below are some photos to keep you dreaming!
